Atlanta-based rapper and DJ Anthony Leonard Platt, known professionally as DJ Unk, has passed away at the age of 43

His wife, Sherkita Long-Platt, shared the news on Facebook, asking for respect for her family as they cope with the loss of her husband and the kids’ father.

DJ Unk, who rose to fame in the late 1990s, was a key member of the Southern Style DJs group, along with DJ Montay and DJ Jelly. He signed with Big Oomp Records in 2000 and released his debut album “Beat’n Down Yo Block!” in 2006, which featured the platinum single “Walk It Out” and the gold-certified track “2 Step”.

The song “Walk It Out” reached the top 10 on the Billboard 100 chart, making it his most successful single. He was also featured on the 2K Sports NBA 2K9 video game.

In 2009, DJ Unk faced health issues that affected his career, but he continued to release new music and collaborate with other artists.

DJ Unk’s legacy as a talented rapper and DJ will be remembered through his music and the impact he had on the hip-hop industry. He was 43 years old.
